Scott North

Scott North is Professor of Sociology in the Osaka University Graduate School of Human Sciences. His research and teaching are concerned with work, leisure, and family life in contemporary Japan. He is the author of papers on the gendered division of labor (“Negotiating What’s ‘Natural’: Persistent Domestic Gender Role Inequality in Japan.” Social Science Japan Journal, 2009.); work hours in corporate Japan (“Overtime Activists Take On Corporate Titans: Toyota, McDonald’s and Japan’s Work Hour Controversy.” Pacific Affairs, 2010.)
